Host: Fair Housing Accessibility First

Description: This 90-minute training offers a comprehensive introduction to HUD-approved Safe Harbors and the Fair Housing Act Design Manual (FHADM), two foundational resources that guide accessible design under the Fair Housing Act (FHA). Participants will explore key elements of the FHA that safeguard against discrimination and promote accessibility, while gaining clarity on what Safe Harbors are, where they originate, and how they are applied in practice. Topics include the definition and sources of Safe Harbors, the technical requirements of ICC A117.1 (2009), the total number of currently recognized Safe Harbors, and the FHADM’s influence on future guidance. Join us to strengthen your understanding of these essential tools for achieving FHA compliance.

During the Q&A part of the training, accessibility expert Eric Contreras will answer your questions about the Fair Housing Act, Fair Housing Act Design Manual, Safe Harbor, and other accessibility issues live.

Each attendee who attends for 45 minutes or longer will receive a certificate of attendance. Certificates are also available for passing the final quiz.
