U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights Issues a Frequently Asked Questions Document on the Disability-Related Rights of Student Veterans

The U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights released a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document on the disability-related rights of student veterans with disabilities in higher education.

The FAQ highlights that the legal standards used to determine disability status under Section 504 are not the same as the standards used by the military and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).

The FAQ also describes when veterans with disabilities are entitled to academic adjustments and how they may request them.
