Mental Health America (MHA) released its latest report, Workplace Mental Health in 2025: Trends and Best Practices of Top Employers, which offers insights and examples from leading organizations that strategically invest in employee well-being. In 2025, MHA awarded 360 employers with the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health, the nation’s top certification for U.S. employers committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces.
Sourced from this year’s cohort, the report highlights:
1. Leading employers integrate mental health and well-being into their organizational strategy, with 99% of 2025 Bell Seal employers referencing mental health in their strategy.
2. Transparent and accountable communication is key, especially during times of uncertainty. Among Bell Seal employers, 94% have an internal plan to communicate major transitions and their potential impact on employees.
3. Top employers recognize the connection between financial and mental health and provide targeted support to address both. Eighty-three percent of Bell Seal employers offer financial education, planning, and other resources to their employees.
4. Leading employers meet their workforce’s diverse and evolving needs by regularly reviewing, tailoring, and expanding their benefits. Among Bell Seal employers, 79% offer various types of support for employees, ranging from maintaining well-being to addressing serious mental health concerns.
5. Value-driven employers deepen their commitment to a fair and accessible workplace in an increasingly complex work landscape. Ninety-six percent of Bell Seal employers review their hiring practices for fairness for people with mental health or substance use conditions.
