Description:
The rules for service animals differ in various settings such as employment, transportation and housing. This session explores the various laws and updates for individuals with disabilities pertaining to service animals in these areas, including the 2020 U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for air travel. Discussions will involve review of legislation, regulations, guidance, case law and recent news items regarding service animals and claimed service animals. During this session participants will learn:
- What businesses, governments, employers, airlines, and housing providers are or are not required to do with regard to service animals.
- What questions a covered entity may ask or require from an individual with a disability.
- What permissible documentation a covered entity may ask or require from an individual with a disability.
