Description:
Ableism, the discrimination or prejudice against individuals with disabilities, remains a significant societal challenge that is still largely ignored, including in healthcare and in aging services. This webinar will investigate actionable strategies aimed at breaking down ableist attitudes, promoting inclusivity, and fostering a more equitable world for people of all abilities. Explore how these efforts strengthen cross-sector partnerships.

Participants in this webinar will:

  • Understand ableism, its impact on individuals, communities, and its implications for social equity, emphasizing opportunities for cross-sector collaborations.
  • Explore how ableism is perpetuated through harmful stereotypes and myths and learn effective ways to challenge and debunk these misconceptions.
  • Discover how collaboration and allyship can amplify the impact of strategic disruption efforts, fostering broader engagement and awareness across all sectors.

Presenter:

Kylie Madhav is the senior director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion [DEI] at SAGE, where she defines the strategic vision for its external-facing DEI work and leads in designing the organization’s DEI action plans, goals and benchmarks. Previously, she worked as the clinical support services manager at New York City’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center.
