Description:
Disabled parents and their children are disproportionately involved with the child welfare system and, once involved, experience significant disparities. This webinar will describe the experiences of parents with disabilities within the child welfare system. It will then explore the ADA’s application to the child welfare system, including recent enforcement efforts by the federal government and court decisions. Finally, the webinar will conclude with a discussion of strategies and solutions for representing disabled parents and their children.
There is no charge to attend the webinar; the session will be captioned.
Presenter: Robyn M. Powell, PhD, JD, Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and a co-investigator at the National Research Center for Parents with Disabilities
