Overview: This free, engaging session brings together multiple Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users to share their personal stories of finding a voice through assistive technology (AT). From early communication breakthroughs to life-changing opportunities, panelists will offer candid insights into how AAC shapes identity, fosters independence, and builds meaningful connections. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the lived experience behind AAC and practical takeaways for supporting inclusive communication.
Accommodations: ASL interpreters and captioning will be available for the live event.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe three diverse experiences of AAC users and how these shape communication strategies and outcomes.
- Identify two or more key factors that support successful AAC adoption and long-term use, including technology, environment, and advocacy.
