Our fifth webinar in this series sheds light on the vital contributions of peer support specialists in the interdisciplinary approach to opioid use disorder treatment. These individuals who have walked a similar path offer invaluable understanding and guidance. Learn how peers play an essential role in fostering hope, building community, and achieving lasting recovery.
Presenter:
Andre L. Johnson, PsyD, is currently the Founder/President/CEO of the Detroit Recovery Project Incorporated, a multi-service non-profit agency that provides a wide spectrum of prevention, treatment, and recovery support services to the city’s recovery community. He has served as a National Advisory Council member for the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment/Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration. President Obama recognized Johnson as the “2016 Champion of Change for Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery.” In 2023, Johnson was appointed to the SAMHSA National Advisory Council. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Morehouse College, a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Michigan School of Psychology.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to explain the unique role of the peer in providing treatment for opioid use disorder.
- Participants will be able to describe ways that peers collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Participants will be able to state four techniques essential to success as a peer supporting someone with an opioid use disorder.
Content Level:
Beginning and Intermediate.
- Beginning level courses introduce learners to a content area; include information about a condition, treatment method, or issue; and involve learning and comprehending content.
- Intermediate level courses provide information that builds on knowledge practitioners with some experience already have. These courses focus on skill-building or adding knowledge, possibly following a brief overview of basic information, and involve using information in concrete situations and understanding the underlying structure of the material.

Earn 1.5 Continuing Education Hours (CEs)
To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.
Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $25 processing fee to access the quiz.
A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print. All certificates will be stored in the NAADAC Education Center under your profile name.

This course meets the qualifications for one and a half (1.5) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
