Title: Inclusive Justice ADA Title II Training Series: ADA Modifications of Policies, Practices, and Procedures to Ensure Access to Justice (Webinar 1 of 6)

Description: Court rules, policies, or practices may create access-to-justice barriers for people with disabilities. Join us to explore ADA requirements for making reasonable modifications to policies, practices, and procedures—commonly referred to as accommodations. These modifications ensure equal access to the justice process for people with disabilities. Even when a requested modification would fundamentally alter court operations, courts must still explore alternative ways to ensure access—an issue this training will address. This training will include best practices regarding the interactive process, leading to disability-related barrier removal.

About the Inclusive Justice ADA Title II Training Series:

The New Mexico Office of the Statewide Title II ADA Coordinator and Julie Ballinger from the Southwest ADA Center invite you to join them for an “Inclusive Justice ADA Title II Training Series.”

When: Select Dates in June 2026 – August 2026. There are six webinars in the series.

Time: Each webinar will last 1 hour and 15 minutes, from 2:00 PM to 3:15 PM Eastern Time | 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM Central Time.

Where: Webinars on Zoom. You must register separately for each webinar in the series.

Cost: Free.

Space is limited. Each webinar will be limited to 100 attendees.

These sessions will be offered through Zoom and are open to all judiciary employees and community partners, and to anyone interested in the topic.

Accommodations: ASL interpreters will be available.

Presenter Bio:

Julie Ballinger, M.A., is a nationally recognized leader with 38 years advancing Disability Rights. She has delivered national impact through leadership and innovation across diverse sectors. Julie directed a Center for Independent Living (CIL), a nonprofit led by people with disabilities providing community services, then became a consultant with the Southwest ADA Center (SWADAC) while employed with the University of Arkansas-providing Technical Assistance to CILs in two federal regions. For 27 years, she has continued with SWADAC, specializing in ADA training and Technical Assistance (TA) on employment, government, and business/nonprofit accessibility. Over the past 9 years, she has focused on court and correctional systems, authoring comprehensive, nationally distributed ADA guides tailored to each sector.
