The World Institute on Disability (WID) is thrilled to invite you to the inaugural Global Heumann Fellowship Cohort Showcase.
Over the past year, our inaugural Fellows have taken on some of the most urgent and least-answered questions in global disability justice. Now, they’re bringing their findings directly to you.

What to Expect
You’ll hear fresh insights from three powerful research projects:
Dr. Munir Sewani – Reimagining higher education access for adult learners with disabilities through open educational resources (OER). His research lifts up both the global promise of OER and the structural barriers that still shut learners out.
Dr. Robbie Francis Watene – An international look at how 11 countries are implementing Article 33.3 of the UN CRPD. Her findings spotlight promising practices, persistent gaps, and the steps governments and DPOs can take to make monitoring truly disability-led.
Kasim Rashid Sajjabi – A deep dive into disability inclusion within Uganda’s rapidly growing oil and gas sector — and what it will take to ensure disabled people are included in employment, leadership, and local development.
Each Fellow will present highlights from their work, followed by documentary screenings that bring the research to life.
