Fair Housing Accessibility First Training Requirement 2: Accessible Public and Common-Use Areas

Description:
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Fair Housing/Equal Opportunity will provide a virtual training on the design and construction requirements of the Fair Housing Act (FHA) on June 27, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. and [repeat session] 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. (Eastern Time). This session will address the technical specifications and clearances required by the FHA Requirement 2 for accessible public and common-use areas. Presenters will discuss the types of facilities that are considered public and common-use areas and how to provide an accessible route to the areas covered under the FHA. Architects, designers, contractors, builders and developers, disability and housing advocates, and individuals interested in FHA are encouraged to attend, and attendees will gain practical knowledge and resources on designing compliant public and common-use areas.
