Disaster situations – hurricanes, fires, winter storms, and so many others – can present unique, and sometimes life-threatening, circumstances for individuals with disabilities and those who are aging. Planning is the key for natural disasters and man-made hazards.
This session hosted by the AT3 Center will provide planning resources, options, and considerations for back-up power during emergencies for up to 72 hours to support various types of durable medical equipment (DME) and assistive technology (AT) for older adults and people with disabilities.
Presenters:
- Ron Lucey, Executive Director, Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities
- Angela Mercurio-Standridge, Director of the Texas Technology Access Program (TTAP) at the Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS), University of Texas at Austin.
