Addressing the Criminalization of People with Disabilities

The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ) will host an event, Addressing the Criminalization of People with Disabilities, on July 25th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm Eastern Time, in recognition of the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Presenters from various agencies and initiatives will focus on the rights of people with disabilities to avoid needless involvement with the criminal justice system.
Panelists include Estelle Richman (former Pennsylvania Secretary of Public Welfare), Helen Skipper (Executive Director of NYC Justice Peer Initiative), and Civil Rights Division staff.
