DOJ Extends Compliance Deadlines for ADA Title II Web and Mobile App Accessibility Rule

On April 20, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) issued an Interim Final Rule (IFR) in the Federal Register to extend the compliance deadlines by one year for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II Web and Mobile App Accessibility Rule for state and local governments adopted on April 24, 2024. 

  • The compliance deadline for public entities with a population of 50,000 or more is extended from April 24, 2026, to April 24, 2027.
  • The compliance deadline for public entities with a population of less than 50,000 and Special District Governments is extended from April 26, 2027, to April 26, 2028.

You may submit written comments on or before June 22, 2026.
