A recent blog post from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) examines data showing that the employment-population ratio for people with disabilities fully recovered in August 2021 and has remained above its pre-pandemic level, likely due to greater workplace flexibilities. While this trend is encouraging, significant gaps between the labor force participation and employment remain between people with and without disabilities, the post’s authors note, and the department’s Office of Disability Employment Policy continues to work to close the gaps through inclusive, equitable employment policies that consider the needs of all workers.
