The culmination of public education for all youth with disabilities should be productive and meaningful careers – not just for some youth, or most youth, but all youth. This 3-part webinar series will highlight key strategies to establish interagency teams, clarify roles and responsibilities, improve engagement of families and employers, and facilitate individualized work experiences in the community. Unfortunately, the way employers tend to be approached – by being asked about job openings or getting the “do the right thing” message – is all wrong. This session will offer strategies to engage employers that emphasizes learning about labor needs and making good job matches, with a focus on meeting the employer’s needs. These strategies will also help transition staff and employment specialists feel more confident and energized when speaking to employers.
