DESCRIPTION:Fair Housing Accessibility FIRST Training Event\nDATE: Tuesday, July 7, 2026\nTIMES: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (Eastern Time) – OR – 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM (Eastern Time)\nDescription:\nThis 90-minute Fair Housing Accessibility FIRST (FHAF) training provides a comprehensive overview of accessible parking requirements under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Participants will learn how FHA Requirements 1 and 2 shape accessible parking design, including the relationship between parking spaces, access aisles, curb ramps, and accessible routes leading to building entrances and common-use areas.\nThe session covers resident and visitor parking, signage and markings, dimensions for car and van spaces, and common design issues that can affect compliance. Practical examples help clarify how safe harbors and other accessibility guidance apply to parking layout decisions and reasonable accommodation requests. Attendees will gain actionable insights to support compliant, user-friendly accessible parking.\nAn accessibility subject matter expert (SME), Eric Contreras, will be available during the dedicated Q&amp;A portion to answer design and construction accessibility questions.\nBy the end of this training, participants will be able to:\n\nidentify the design and construction requirements for accessible parking under FHA Requirements 1 and 2,\nunderstand FHA coverage and the role of safe harbors,\nrecognize technical specifications for accessible spaces, access aisles, curb ramps, signage, markings, and other required elements,\ndetermine minimum resident and visitor parking counts,\nunderstand reasonable accommodation responsibilities for providing accessible parking,\nand identify strategies to design fully compliant parking areas and more.\n\nThis training offers:\n\none hour of focused training on the Fair Housing Act\nknowledge checks to strengthen memory and understanding\n30+ minute live Q&amp;A session with accessibility expert Eric Contreras\na download of all webinar materials in the participant workbook.\n\nEach attendee who attends for 45 minutes or longer will receive a certificate of attendance.
