DESCRIPTION:Fair Housing Accessibility FIRST Training Event\nDATE: Tuesday, June 16, 2026\nTIMES: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (Eastern Time) – OR – 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM (Eastern Time)\nDescription:\nThis 90-minute Fair Housing Accessibility FIRST (FHAF) training provides a comprehensive overview of the Supplement to the Notice of Fair Housing Accessibility Guidelines and several key special topics frequently raised by designers, developers, and housing professionals. Participants will learn how HUD’s supplemental questions and answers clarify scoping and technical specification recommendations for accessible design and construction, as well as how these interpretations support compliance in real-world projects.\nThe session also introduces the DOJ–HUD Joint Statement on Reasonable Accommodations, explaining the rights and obligations of individuals with disabilities and housing providers, the reasonable accommodation request process, and common areas of confusion. Practical examples help illustrate how these guidance documents apply in the field.\nAn accessibility subject matter expert (SME), Eric Contreras, will be available during the dedicated Q&amp;A portion to answer design and construction accessibility questions.\nBy the end of this training, participants will be able to:\n\nidentify FHA compliance guidance in the Supplemental Notice,\nunderstand how HUD’s clarifications improve interpretation of scoping and technical specifications,\nrecognize the purpose and practical applications of the DOJ–HUD Joint Statement,\ndefine reasonable accommodation and fundamental alteration,\noutline the full process for reviewing, approving, denying, or negotiating accommodation requests,\ndetermine what inquiries and documentation may be sought while remaining compliant with the Act,\nunderstand the implications of delays or failures to act promptly, and more.\n\nThis training offers:\n\none hour of focused training on the Fair Housing Act\nknowledge checks to strengthen memory and understanding\n30+ minute live Q&amp;A session with accessibility expert Eric Contreras\na download of all webinar materials in the participant workbook.\n\nEach attendee who attends for 45 minutes or longer will receive a certificate of attendance.
