Be Aware of the Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test - Date Changed to October 3rd

UPDATE: Due to the response of Hurricane Florence, the nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) has been postponed until October 3rd.

On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, the Federal Emergency and Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) beginning at 2:18 p.m. Eastern Time. The test will assess how ready the distribution channels are in case a national message needs to be sent and to determine whether improvements are needed.
