Description:

In September and October 2017, Cornell University conducted a survey of federal contractors, entitled: What Works? How Federal Contractors Are Implementing Section 503. The purpose of the survey was to build an understanding of contractor disability-inclusive practices in initially responding to Section 503 regulations targeting improved employment outcomes for people with disabilities.

Specifically, the survey was designed to increase understanding of:

  • The outcomes of inviting individuals to self-identify as a person with a disability, specifically voluntary self-identification rates and response rates to self-identification invitations;
  • Promising contractor practices regarding disability recruiting, hiring, and employment, and;
  • Challenges contractors have encountered in implementing the regulations to date.

This webcast will present findings from this survey and will include video interviews from select federal contractor representatives that are innovators in disability inclusion and the perspectives of employees who have chosen to disclose their disability.
